Electronic art used to be a fringe genre a decade ago, but with the way technology has become ubiquitous in our lives today, interactive and digital media (IDM) is fast moving into the forefront of the local art scene.

A sure sign that electronic art has reached the mainstream is the International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA), in Singapore for the first time in its 20-year history. ISEA2008 is also only the second ISEA to be held in Asia, with Japan having hosted the event in 2002.
