Background

Mozat was founded in Singapore 2003 and backed by leading venture capital firms like JAFCO Asia. Their mission is to develop mobile social networking services for operators worldwide and to help companies differentiate their brand, establishing a healthy service delivery ecosystem, increasing recurring mobile data revenue and building long term customer loyal among subscribers.

Since its incorporation, Mozat has won numerous industry awards, including the Red herring Global Top 200, Red Herring Asia Top 100 and the Golden Olive Award from Sony-Ericsson. Mozat was also nominated for “Top Innovator” at the 2008 GSMA mobile exhibition in Barcelona.

Mozat Developer Challenge

Mozat is a flexible, scalable, robust mobile applications and services platform that allows mobile operators to rapidly aggregate existing VAS and deploys new mobile internet services to their subscribers.

Mozat’s extensible and open architecture ensures that mobile operators have access to an unlimited supply of innovative applications and services that are catered for the future. Mozat’s key features include:

1.  Operator oriented open architecture

2.  35 plus ready services

3.   Operator App store and VAS service

4.   SDK/API for 3rd party developers

5.   Carrier grade admin and reporting, support different billing methods,

6.   IP based network: GPRS/3G/WiF

7.   White labeled operator solution

Through Mozat’s unique technologies, the platform can now supports over 90% available phones in the market, cutting across different O/S from Symbian, Windows Mobile, Android and Java phone and more!

Furthermore, Mozat has more than 14 million users worldwide interacting, sharing and communicating through a single service. The base provides Mozat with invaluable insight into popular trends and services preferred by the mobile users

To support the development of the future applications , Mozat has organize a “Mozat Competition for Apps on IDE Environment”  and is calling on individuals, companies, etc, for innovative  and creative mobile’s content-rich mobile applications on platforms that will help catalyzed further development of the Apps on IDE environment. From 22 September 2010, users can download MoIDE and start the development. With MoIDE, you can upload and test your apps, also can publish the apps to your friends (maximum 5) using the publish project website. During the development period, you can freely change the content of your apps.

Developers submit their apps to one of 10 specially-designated categories (see below).

  • Games: Casual/Puzzle
  • Games: Arcade/Action
  • Social Networking
  • Lifestyle
  • Productivity/Tools
  • Media
  • Entertainment
  • Travel
  • Misc

Note: MoIDE supports development of static apps (i.e. apps involve no database, networking). If you want to develop the more dynamic apps and host them in your own server, you need to seek for approval from us before the submission. This is mainly for the security reason.

Prizes will be distributed as follows:

  • 1st prize: US$5,000 + 1 set of iPad
  • 2nd prize: US$3,000 + 1 set of iPod touch
  • 3rd prize: US$1,000 + 1 set of iPod nano

In addition, winners can have free registration for 2011 3GSMA Mobile World Congress located in Barcelona, Spain.

Timeline

  • September 21 – MoIDE is released and Mozat Developer Challenge is announced
  • 1 November 2010: submission site opens, developers submit apps
  • 31 December 2010: submission site closes
  • 10 January 2011: Top 10 to 20 apps will be selected for public voting.
  • 31 January 2011: public voting ends
  • 14-17 February 2011: final judging ends, winners announced
