FutureGames (Media-in-Learning) CFP
Many calls that we have launched in the past have had a competitive element involving evaluating and shortlisting proposals within a fixed time period. While the competitive aspect of the FutureGames (Media-in-Learning) CFP has ended, we are always looking for interested parties to submit proposals for IDM projects that fall within the scope of this call.
Media-in-Learning aims to catalyze the creation of pedagogically sound media extensively and effectively in the Learning, Education and Training sector across multiple Futures scenarios – FutureGames, FutureWorld, FutureBooks, FutureTV and FutureMobile.
This program, supported through a co-funding scheme, will initially focus on Serious Games (Games-in-Learning) with an aim to engage leading companies, including content owners, publishers, service providers and research institutes to work together to create a quantum leap in the development of serious games.
This program will close identified gaps and provide expertise in the area of development of pedagogically sound serious games , amalgamating platforms for use by the game development community, provide marketing know how and distribution avenues as well as make available resource centers, pooling resources for benefit of the community.
This will allow the local game developers to take on Serious Games projects with a view to commercialize them after delivery to the initial client as a commercial-off-the-shelf product that can be sold generically to various customers globally subsequently.
Once a client has been secured, MDA may co-fund the project with the publisher as long as the export or commercialization appeal of the title beyond the immediate client has been demonstrated.
Both client and developer must attend Games-in-Learning pedagogy training which will be facilitated by MDA. The developer must propose re-skinning of the title as a
Commercial-Off-The-Shelf product thereafter.
Ultimately it is envisioned that this program will groom local developers and publishers in developing core competencies in the development, publishing and distribution of Serious Games.
