Call for Proposal for Online Content Integration, Application and Service Development

Introduction
FutureBooks is a strategic initiative by the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) to marshal the strengths of our key publishers, technology providers, hardware manufacturers, together with the innovativeness of our start-ups to come together to offer their competitive advantage for the industry to exploit and effectively address this emerging growth sector.

Objectives
As part of the effort to create a foothold for Singapore in the space of development, delivering and managing of innovative applications and content for e-book platform, MDA’s call-for-proposal seeks to:

  • Support innovative ideas that involve the development of an online or e-Book-related application or business model
  • Support Singapore developers to gain direct access to online publishing and distribution channels to commercialize their e-Book content and applications on various digital platforms

Funding Schemes
Apart from partnership support through the Partner Network, MDA is committed to the following for SMEs and established companies:

  • i-Jam Projects: Fund up to $50,000 for start-ups – Download Application Form
  • Industry R&D Projects: Fund up to 50% of project costs for R&D projects – Download Application Form
  • Commercialization Projects: Repayable grant for commercialization projects that are already developed, with a good track record and are ready to scale internationally – Download Application Form

The proposals are assessed and approved by an evaluation panel. The selected projects will then be further evaluated and approved by MDA.

The initiative does not fund projects that are essentially installations, part of live performances, or exhibitions. Funding will also not be provided for the establishments of infrastructure, ongoing administrative costs of organizations, or the establishments of infrastructure, ongoing costs of an organisation’s or individual’s website. Funds will be allocated to each selected applicant upon approval of application.

Mid Feb 10 Presentation to Evaluation Panel
Early Mar 10 CFP awards

CFP Proposal Submission
Applications must be submitted using the designated form and with:
(i) Two (x2) hard copies of the project proposal addressed to:

Closing Date : 30 Dec 2009 (Extended, original closing date was 18 Dec 09)
Cut-Off Time : 3pm
