The Programme would be held over a period of five days. It is to be based on a structured business development approach, which PVL Media would bring together like-minded companies for mutual sharing, leading to strategic alliances for long term partnerships and business deals.  The Programme would also serve as an education platform to facilitate a deeper understanding of the UK audio-visual landscape for Singapore media companies.

THE COMPANY

PVL Media Consultants is owned by Ms Parminder Vir, who would also be the Programme Producer.  Ms Vir has over 20 years of work in the media, creative and cultural industries, with experience expertise and experience in film and television production, media finance, business development in emerging markets, diversity executive and developing high level strategy and policy through board memberships of public and private organisations.

THE PROGRAMME

The Executive Talent Development Programme is aimed at the growth media sectors in Singapore including:  Interactive Digital Media, Animation, Video Games and Mobile, Independent Film and Television Production. It would include the following events :

1. Seminar: 2  full days from 10am to 5pm
2. One to One Meetings: 2 full days
3. Networking Event: Half day to review with the delegates ( 10am-2pm)  and end with Networking Event ( 6-10pm)

The networking, to be known as the Singapore-UK Media Forum, would include panel discussion between UK and Singapore media companies. The company would select those UK companies who are interested in doing business with international partners and Singapore would be positioned as the gateway to doing business with Asia.

PVL Media would leverage on its relationships with the UK media business owners, senior executives as well as key government agencies across the sectors including: Interactive Digital Media; Independent Film and Television Production; Video Games and Animation and Broadcasters.

The Programme is designed to facilitate Singapore media companies to make the leap for overseas business. It would be developed with clear outcomes in mind for the Singapore media companies which can lead to:

• Business development through partnerships, collaborations and deals.
• Building relationships with new overseas partners for business growth
• Deeper understanding of doing business in each other’s respective countries and regions

The COSTS

The Programme would cost £35,450 for 10 participants (or about S$71,680), excluding airfare, accommodation and meals.  For interested companies, MDA is prepare to co-fund up to 50% of the Programme , i.e. S$3,584 per participant.

PVL Media’s Programme Producer would be in Singapore for one week to hold one-to-one meetings with the interested companies to define their business development goals and identify the UK companies who would best meet their objectives. The Programme would then be developed to meet these outcomes.

Last year marked the successful launch of the first SVCA Awards programme as part of the industry development activities undertaken by the SVCA. The 2010 SVCA Annual Awards were launched with two award categories – Best Performing VC/PE-Backed Company and Best Exit.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, he built a successful local advertising network for Time, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated and United States News and World Report. He sold his business to 3M, and in his career at 3M built the media division into the second largest.

From there, he published numerous successful magazines such as Working Woman, McCalls, Working Mother, Ms. and Sassy. Mr Lang also built a women’s art collection that toured United States for several years.

Mr Lang has served on the corporate boards for Borg Warner Corporation and the Paul Taylor Dance Company, the Board of Directors for the Columbia Journalism Review and the Advisory Board for the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Business. Mr Lang now splits his time between Sarasota, Florida, and New York City. He has sold most of his media properties and is currently a private investor.
