Call for Proposals: Microsoft – Windows Phone 7

Microsoft Singapore is calling for proposals for its Windows Phone 7. Accepted applicants will received technical guidance/training from Microsoft Innovation Centre, get hardware/software support for testing applications as well as books available for loan to aid application development.

With the proliferation of services on the cloud devices in different form factors that consume them, Microsoft has set
the vision for “Three Screens and the Cloud”. In a nutshell, it is all about creating the best and contextualized user
experiences powered by the cloud and delivered seamlessly across different devices.

Offerings from Microsoft for this CFP
Microsoft is committed to supporting the developer ecosystem with a wide range of tools and technologies that are free and easy to use. These include free versions of our phone tools such as Visual Studio Express for the Windows Phone and Expression Blend 4 for the Phone. The following will also be provided for those who are set to build applications for Windows Phone 7 –
• Technical guidance from the Microsoft Innovation Centre. Microsoft Singapore, through MIC, will provide expertise and technical guidance on a best-effort basis. Priority will be given to those who are creating applications that satisfy the ideal scenarios mentioned above
• MIC will provide free technical training for those who are committed to build compelling Windows Phone 7 applications
• MIC will provide access to phone devices (inside MIC) for testing applications. Strict prioritization and scheduling will be implemented
• MIC will provide access to multi-touch monitors (inside MIC) for testing applications. Strict prioritization and scheduling will be implemented
• MIC will provide books available for loan to aid in their application development

Deliverables for the CFP
Microsoft will have high expectations from developers creating applications for Windows Phone 7. We are also
committed to helping as much as we can so that developers will realize the vision set by Three Screens and the
Cloud. Here are some expectations from developers for this CFP
• Proof-of-concept / Commercial / Consumer-ready applications that have a potential immediate client from any vertical
• Windows Phone 7 applications should pass the requirements set by the Marketplace policies (update due end of May)
• Evangelize in whatever capacity possible about the experience and the knowledge acquired in building a Windows Phone 7 application

To find out more about the CFP and to get to speak to the Microsoft representatives, you may wish to attend the session held on 13th May 2010 at Microsoft Singapore, One Marina Boulevard, Level 22 @ 6.30pm. Interested developers/companies will also be allocated ‘stage-time’ for a verbal pitch to the panel.
